There is little time for remedial training at school. Special educators are tasked with assisting classroom teachers to understand and accommodate LD students. Staff support LD students by assisting them to understand and complete assignments, and prepare for and take tests. Students are kept in general education classes whenever possible so they can benefit from scheduled delivery of the State's curriculum.
Special Education Procedures: 1. Request testing for specific learning disability in reading, spelling, handwriting, and/or math.
2. Meet with professionals to discuss test results.
3. Develop a plan to remediate student deficits and accommodate disabilities.
4. Check Goals against progress reports.
5. Reconvene IEPC to revise plan, as soon as goals are not being met.
